If you are disabled and have been out of work for one year or more, you may qualify for social security disability benefits. More likely than not, benefits are awarded to individuals who are represented by an attorney.
SSI: Benefits are paid to the aged, blind, and disabled people based on a financial need.
SSDI: To qualify for disability benefits, you must have worked in jobs covered by Social Security and you must have a medical condition that meets Social Security's definition of a disability.
